Assignment 1

The first ever assignment for this subject is basically discovering the influence in movies such as expressionism, surrealism, and many more. We were given choices to pick whichever movie that we think it's suitable and easy to extract.

I picked The Lion King since there seems to be one influence which is expressionism. What I extract from this movie is; the circle of life (which everyone knows the explanation),the coming of age, leadership, loss of a parent, and support of the main protagonist.

"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all" by Hellen Keller describes the whole story in this movie.

Assignment 2

The second assignment was the proposal for the final project. For this, I had a few ideas that involved expressionism (of course) but I had no idea whether to make it a short film or documentary.

So, why expressionism? It's not that complex as it involves visual language. At first I did imply on making a documentary like this video below:

Abstract Painting: A Documentary Video by TinToy Productions (2016)

Assignment 3-4

Assignment 3 and 4 is literally related since it was a group work, Kevin and I were planning to do a documentary film together but we used my first assignment which was expressionism so we did a minor twist to it; comedy. In fact, comedy is a professional entertainment consisting of jokes and sketches, intended to make an audience laugh.

Ideas:

Since we were planning on doing Mulan, Kevin helped with the storyboard we discussed until it felt right. At first we we planning to do a reenactment from the movie but instead we decided a comedy would do better.

The theme or video, takes place in the 21st century where Mulan and Wu Shu takes on life as students in first world problems.

We planned 3 scenes altogether but decided to cut short on 2 scenes instead.

1st scene

The first original scene was called Bully where Mulan was getting bullied for befriending Wu Shu and decided to pick on the protagonist until at some point Mulan stabs all the bullies and Mu Shu trying to stop Mulan. Mulan ignores Wu Shu until the cops came to stop Mulan. But Mulan just continues stabbing the cops.

2nd scene

This scene was called Cheating where Mulan and Wu Shu was taking their exams in a classroom. Mulan was trying to hard on her exam but failing miserably but Wu Shu got other plans. Wu Shu then shoved a paper onto Mulan's face, disturbing her. Mulan got irritated but ignored Wu Shu. The teacher (played by Kevin) noticed them doing something then Wu Shu just threw the paper away. Then the teacher kept an eye on the two students. Wu Shu still shoved the paper in her direction then the teacher noticed again and went over to Mulan, slapping her with a stick.

3rd scene

In this scene is called Phones (originally Cyber Addiction) where Mulan was addicted to playing games on her phone until Wu Shu came by urging Mulan to save the country but Mulan just shrugged him off and continue to play games on her phone. Wu Shu tries again only to have Mulan loses her game and shoot Wu Shu because of her loss and irritation.

Final Outcome
